looking for mushrooms started on trails through the woods at the Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, Michigan. It then expanded to looking for mushrooms everywhere I went at the time. A curiosity around knowing the mushrooms that grew in the areas I spent time in was the source for this work. looking for mushrooms was also grounded in experimentation between physical pigments, water, and mushrooms' fruiting bodies. It was a time for me to get acquainted with each mushroom I came across, its given names, the environment each is a part of, and their sensation to hold as I worked with them to create a visual record similar to a spore print.
