Held Between the Rocks and Dust explores the alchemy of painting through the memories of materials. Pigments are ground by hand from domestic and industrial waste, and paper has been made from excess textiles. This carbon black has lived as a tree, and holds the energy of a bonfire. Image and substance are intertwined and have many pasts and futures.
